As one of the local squadrons, we were invited to provide a presence of staff and cadets for the Royal Opening of the new TA centre at Dalton Barracks which includes new accommodation for the Headquarters of Thames Valley Wing. Representing the staff were an officer (Flt Lt Levett), a SNCO (WO Howells), a CI (Miss Bradley) and a service helper (Cpl Skelton). Six cadets also went, led by Sgt Sula. (Ed.)
When the new TA centre had its Royal Opening, the Air Training Corps was there to help. There was two squadrons, 150 and 2121. We did two jobs: manning the recruitment stand and the car parking. Her Grace the Duchess of Glouster and 7 Rifles came to the opining. She met six cadets and she ask them questions like when did you join and why did you join, what do you do, what would you say to people to get them to join. We were fed food and drinks which were quite nice and when it ended there was a ball for the guest.
