Introduction to 150 Squadron

150 (City of Oxford) SquadronWelcome to the web site of 150 (City of Oxford) Squadron Air Training Corps (ATC), the area’s largest and best equipped Cadet Unit. We are a large and friendly squadron run by a dedicated staff team.  Unlike some other youth organisations we have high standards and expect a lot from our cadets… we give a lot in return though… For more information take a look at our prospectus, fill in the joining form or pay us a visit.

Have you got what it takes?

If so we’ll see you on the parade square!

Air Training Corps Aims

We run and active and demanding program of activities in accordance with the three core aims of the ATC:

  • To promote and encourage among young people a practical interest in aviation and the Royal Air Force.
  • To provide training which will be useful in both the Services and civilian life.
  • To foster the spirit of adventure and develop qualities of leadership and good citizenship.

Royal Opening of the new Thames Valley HQ

As one of the local squadrons, we were invited to provide a presence of staff and cadets for the Royal Opening of the new TA centre at Dalton Barracks which includes new accommodation for the Headquarters of Thames Valley Wing.  Representing the staff were an officer (Flt Lt Levett), a SNCO (WO Howells), a CI (Miss Bradley) and a service helper (Cpl Skelton).  Six cadets also went, led by Sgt Sula. Squadron visit by FS Barry Reynolds RAF

It is a common myth that only officers fly for a living.  It is also commonly felt that you must join the RAF either as a pilot officer or as an aircraftsman/woman (AC).  To dispel these misunderstandings, and to further our understanding of the RAF, we invited a SNCO aircrew to talk about his work.  We were delighted when Cpl Skelton managed to turn a chance meeting in Iraq into a firm offer to visit us.

Practice Bronze expedition - June 09

It’s been a late start to the DoE year this year.  Many of our cadets have only just turned 14 and anyway, March is cold.  We chose the longest days of the year to begin our DoE training in the field with a return to Bourton-on-the-Water and Folly Farm campsite. (Ed.)
